Exhibition blurb
Soft power is the ability to persuade others and shape their preferences; of being able to get what you want without coercion - by using appeal and attraction.
Dr. Joseph Nye pioneered the theory of soft power and explained the distinction between soft power and hard power.
April uses 'soft power' in her series of artworks
to draw attention to everyday themes and elevate the value of ordinary lives.
Exhibition in Melbourne 2022
Using the concept of soft power, I have captured strong, simplified forms of the female figure, flowers, rich textures, and splendid colours, to inspire viewers to find a deeper respect for the ordinary, for each other, and also for themselves.
